French scarf gives you some advice to help you choose a scarf suitable for your child.

Snood scarves for children

The different types of scarves for children

By age:

For little ones under 3 years old, choose a snood scarf. A snood is a tube-shaped scarf that you put over your head like a turtleneck. It is very practical for young children. There are no parts that fly around or risk getting caught! There are knitted ones available on the market in all materials: cotton, wool, or synthetic fiber. La Fabrique d’écharpe offers you our children’s snoods in 100% ultra soft brushed organic cotton. A wide choice awaits you on our site, for girls and for boys. There are all colors, with embroidery of different things like small animals, children’s stories, and Christmas. Even better, they are customizable!

This type of snood is extra-soft and specifically designed for children! It is perfect for cold periods, ideal for outdoor games, mountains, and winter sports. Made of 100% organic cotton, this neck warmer woven with an elastic mesh is easy to put on and take off. You can personalize the scarf by having your child’s first name embroidered on it. And you can easily find it at school, at daycare, at the nanny’s, a truly unique scarf! Our children’s snoods are embroidered in our workshop in Lyon upon receipt of your order!

For older children, from 3-4 years old to 12 years old, you can choose a rectangular children’s scarf, with a small width (9.84-11.81 in, 25-30cm) and a length between 51.81in (130cm) and 59.05in (150cm). This way, you can easily wrap it around your neck, make a turn and then tie the two sides at the front. For older children (8 to 12 years old), they can also wear it folded in half and the two sides passed through the buckle like adults. In addition, this knotting is very easy to do!

When are they going to wear it?

In general, children wear scarves to protect themselves from the cold. This would be then for the winter season and often for mid-season, in spring and autumn.

Wool-based children’s scarves

Just like for adults, wool is the ideal material for making scarves to protect yourself from the cold. Most of the time, wool is mixed with other materials. A 100% wool fabric is more difficult to maintain, it can felt when washed, is more sensitive to moths, etc. French scarf has created an innovative blend of Merino wool, cotton, and rayon to weave our children’s scarves. This carefully conceived composition offers softness, warmth, and durability. We chose Merino wool for its extreme softness, and because it does not itch. Since the skin of our little cherubs is delicate, they will never wear a scarf that itches for more than 5 minutes. This type of scarf is very comfortable during very cold weather, for example during winter sports, for walks in the countryside, or simply to wear every day to go to school.

Cotton-based children’s scarves

Cotton is the natural material par excellence, being easy to wear and inexpensive (between 20-35€/kg for dyed yarn). It is very good for scarves because one of the best qualities of cotton is that it is very absorbent; its plant fiber can in fact absorb up to 8.5% of its weight in water. Cotton is also easy to take care of. Moreover, it is a very good insulator, and can protect from both heat and cold. In addition, cotton is a plant fiber that is quite easy to dye; there are a multitude of colors available, from the most pastel to the brightest. Thanks to all these qualities, French scarf has created children’s scarves made of 100% organic cotton in a tube shape to fit close to the neck to protect from the cold, all while absorbing perspiration and keeping the neck dry. How to pair it with an outfit

Today, scarves are must-have fashion accessories, for women, men, and children alike. A small scarf in trendy colors will give your child style. A creative pattern will bring a touch of creativity to a jacket in a sober color. A pretty scarf can enhance a classic coat. Let your imagination run wild, create “fashion” looks for your children, with a small, original, and well-positioned scarf. Don’t try to perfectly match the colors, green on green, pink on pink, or beige on beige. For example, to pair with a fuchsia pink jacket, choose a scarf in neutral tones, in beige or gray to give a chic and elegant look. On the other hand, for a navy or brown coat, add a touch of color with a bright orange, scarlet red, or electric blue scarf.
